The Jabanto Group, established in 2018 with 29 Smallholder coffee farmers from the Geed Zone of Ethiopia, has grown to 87 members by 2023. The group focuses on producing high-quality coffee through careful post-harvest processing, especially in the Kochere Woreds’s Billy Kebele. Sustainable practises include hand-picking ripe cherries, meticulous sorting, and fermentation, followed by a controlled drying process. These methods ensure high-quality coffee, often categorised as Grade2, while addressing the logistical huddles faced by small scale farmers. The group’s focus on quality control, marketing and export logistics has helped improves the profitability and sustainability of the farmers involved.
